Sand Creek Elementary School
Home of the Cyclones!

Our School

Opened in August 2000, Sand Creek Elementary School is a place where your child will gain a strong academic foundation from a dedicated staff of educators. With approximately 400 students from prekindergarten through sixth grade and only 18 students in our average classroom, we take pride in the fact that students can receive the one-on-one attention each needs from his or her teacher.

We Believe

At Sand Creek, we believe that:

  • an open and positive environment promotes respect, honesty and trust;
  • lifelong learning encourages creativity, responsibility and productivity;
  • the partnership among schools, families and the community is essential to the complete educational experience;
  • each person is unique and has value;
  • when each person contributes, the individual and community thrive;
  • understanding diversity enhances our lives and community;
  • goal setting and high expectations lead to success;
  • everyone can learn.

JCSC Pre-K Program

Jennings County School Corporation is excited to announce the expansion of their Pre-K program for the 2020–2021 school year! For the 2020–2021 school year, JCSC will be offering Pre-K locations at Sand Creek Elementary and North Vernon Elementary. We are committed to offering a high-quality program with focus on developing the whole child. You may pick up an application at the Jennings County School Corporation’s Central Office at 34 Main Street in North Vernon or print one from their website. The Pre-K program will have 10 spots available at each site and will be on a first come, first serve basis for students who meet eligibility requirements. We will accept applications beginning on February 17 at 8:00 a.m. at the Jennings County School Corporation’s Central Office or submitted digitally to Debbie Sharp.

The Pre-K program will follow the approved Jennings County School Corporation calendar. Both Pre-K sites will be enrolling students from across the district. The Pre-K program will be five days a week starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 3:00 p.m. with times varying depending on the site. The cost for the Pre-K program will be $125 per week, which will include breakfast, lunch, and snacks. There will be a limited number of modified tuition spots available if parents meet the application guidelines. Students must be four years old as of August 1, 2020. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation to and from school. Extended care will be available and we include this in the cost, but spots are limited. Please direct any questions to Todd Ebinger or Debbie Sharp, Programs Department for JCSC. You may reach both of them at (812) 346-4483 or in person at the Jennings County School Corporation’s Central Office.

Sand Creek Developmental Preschool

In Jennings County, we work together so that every child can develop to his or her fullest potential socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and academically. Through growth in all of these domains, the child will become a healthy, capable, competent, and powerful learner.

Our corporation works to assure all of our children are ready for kindergarten. Many children may benefit from additional preschooling to assure they have the skill set to be successful when entering kindergarten. If you believe your child’s development may be a little behind, please feel free to contact us at (812) 346.4483 (ext. 1). We would be happy to meet with you and discuss your child’s readiness skills.

We know early learning experiences help a child become ready for kindergarten. Our goal is to provide assistance to any child who may qualify for the Jennings County preschool program.
